Reimagining the surface
where home shopping happens.

Realtor.com's listing details page is the heart of the site — where consumers explore potential homes. We rebuilt it from a lead-generation surface for agents into a consumer-first experience designed for first-time, mobile-first homebuyers.

From lead generation to consumer focused

The legacy LDP optimized for agent lead generation, not the people actually shopping for homes. Years of additive product decisions left it overloaded — competing modules, fragmented hierarchy, and a mobile experience that lagged behind Zillow and Redfin.

WHAT WAS BROKEN

  • 12+ accordion sections fighting for attention

  • Monetization modules vs. core user tasks

  • Mobile usability falling behind Zillow and Redfin

Should be easy, right?

Our team—engineers, product managers, and designers—embarked on a full redesign. We prioritized the needs of first-time homebuyers, particularly millennials, who are always mobile first.

Our approach was ambitious

  • Iterating in waves (i.e. lead volume, media to follow)

  • A set of key metrics with guardrails & weighted tradeoffs

  • Eng started to build while design was finalizing sections

Large ideation and validation

  • Built a design brief based of past user research and data

  • Test mobile prototypes with wide concept ranges

  • Validate new patterns with eng partners

Every photo tells a story. Every detail helps you decide.

Designing at scale meant balancing ambition with reality.

Instead of shipping a massive redesign all at once, we rolled out focused improvements in stages — reducing complexity, improving discoverability, and creating a foundation the platform could evolve on over time.

hyperfocued improvements

  • Larger, immersive media gallery

  • Improved small-screen usability

  • Reduced dependency on accordions

  • Cleaner visual hierarchy and spacing

  • Faster access to high-value information
